T-Sport have confirmed their entry into the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship this weekend at Donington Park (16-17 September).

Alex Kapadia and Manhal Allos will race the black and silver Ligier JS P3, run by the successful single-seater race team. Alex is no stranger to LMP3 racing as he races in the LMP3 class of the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup. Manhal graduates to the LMP3 class having raced in the UK and Europe in Radical sports cars for many years.

T-Sport last raced the Ligier JS P3 at the opening round of the championship, also held at Donington Park, with Steve Tandy and former Formula One driver, Karun Chandhok behind the wheel. T-Sport is one of the most respected and successful UK-based Formula Three teams and has been competing in the FIA Formula Three European Championship and the British Formula Three Championship for many years.

This weekend marks the final round of the British LMP3 Championship backed by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), organisers of the world famous Le Mans 24 Hours. The 2017 championship was won at the last round at Snetterton by the Ecurie Ecosse/Nielsen Racing duo of Alasdair McCaig and Colin Noble. Nielsen Racing will be fielding their champions and a further two cars this weekend – one for championship returnees, Jason Rishover and Jamie Spence and one for championship newcomers Khaled Al Mudhaf and Michael Vergers. United Autosports will also be fielding their full season entries of Christian England, Andrew Evans, Tony Wells and Matt Bell. They will also run a further two cars for Johnny Mowlem and Bon Grimes, along with the Sports Insure Celebrity Car of Sandy Mitchell and Sir Chris Hoy. Full season entries Speedworks Motorsport will enter their #96 Ligier JS P3 for Jack Butel, who will be racing solo for the first time this year, along with the Douglas Motorsport duo of Mike Newbould and Callan O'Keefe in the #72 Ligier JS P3.

Russell Eacott, Team Principal, T-Sport:

“We tested with Manhal at Snetterton and it went well. He has since come back and said he wants to race at Donington. After that, getting Alex along was a bit of a no brainer. We’ve known Alex for what seems like years but we’ve never had him in one of our cars. Funnily enough we shared the same house at Le Mans this year so it’s great to have him the car. We are happy that we can be out for the season finale. We are hoping that it will generate interest for the 2018 season and running cars in the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship.”

Richard Dean, Ligier UK:

“I’m really pleased to see that T-Sport will be entering the final round of the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship. They are a great team, with a lot of experience and they have a strong driver line up, so I’m hoping they will be battling at the front at Donington Park.”
