Nielsen Racing to enter three cars in final Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship round at Donington Park

Nielsen Racing have confirmed they will enter three cars in the final round of the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship at Donington Park on 16-17 September.

The team clinched the 2017 Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship at the previous round at Snetterton, with drivers Colin Noble and Alasdair McCaig in the #79 Ligier JS P3. The pair have claimed six wins so far this season and have never finished off the podium.

For the final round, Jason Rishover and Jamie Spence will return to the championship with the Corby-based team after competing in six of 10 rounds so far this year. The third car will be raced by Khaled Al Mudhaf and Michael Vergers – the first time either driver has driven a Ligier JS P3.

The final round of the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship will see the United Autosports #2 Ligier of Christian England and Andrew Evans battle it out for third place in the championship with the Speedworks Ligier of Jack Butel, who will be racing solo at Donington Park. There are still more cars and drivers to be announced for the final round of the championship in the coming weeks.

Nielsen Racing are also racing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup with the Ligier JS P3. Colin Noble and Tony Wells are currently lying second in the championship with two rounds remaining.

David Thompson, Team Manager, Nielsen Racing:

“I’m pleased we have pulled together this deal to run three cars at the final round of the Henderson Insurance LMP3 Cup Championship. It’s good that the number of cars on the grid for Donington is looking promising, the championship is a great platform for LMP3 racing in the UK and hopefully this will continue into next year. We may have already won the championship with Colin and Alasdair, but we will still be pushing to continue our winning streak and keep up our run of podiums this year.”
